Highfields is a town in the Toowoomba region, along the New England Highway. It is situated on the Great Dividing Range, slightly north of Mount Kynoch. It serves as a satellite suburb to the city of Toowoomba, accommodating many of Toowoomba’s businesses' employees. It has been said to be the fastest growing area in Queensland, and also one of the fastest in Australia. There are four schools in Highfields; Highfields State Primary School, Mary MacKillop Catholic School (primary and high school), Toowoomba Christian College (primary and high school) and Highfields State Secondary College (HSSC), which was opened at the beginning of 2015 to cater for the growing community. Highfields Village shopping centre was opened in 2003, and contains a multitude of stores, including eateries, a supermarket, hairdressers, banks and a tavern.
