Meet Simon Moore
06 May 2025 - Simon Palmer - Brokerage

PSS recently expanded its team by adding a new National Account Manager, Simon Moore. Before joining PSS, Simon worked for 15 years in medical/dental finance for some of the leading dental finance companies

We decided to interview Simon to give our clients a chance to get to know him a little better.

1. Tell us a bit about your history. Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Roma in Western QLD. I moved to Brisbane at age 15 for high school and I have lived in Brisbane ever since.

2. Tell us about your career history before Practice Sale Search

For the last 15 years, I have worked in Specialist Commercial Finance for Investec, BOQ Specialist and, most recently, Credabl.  Over the time I have supported medical professionals, including dentists and vets, set up and buy clinics, while also supporting their ambitions for growth.

3. How do you feel your history working in medical finance would help you when selling practices? What extra perspective do you feel it gives you?

Having worked closely with dentists financing their practices for many years, it goes without saying that I have a strong understanding of financial structures, cash flow patterns and the valuation drivers that are specific to the industry.

Beyond this though, my experience in dental finance has given me a unique edge in practice sales in that I have unique insight into:

  1. Buyers. I have spent 15 years talking to buyers about the practices that they want to buy. I know how they look at practices that come on the market. I know what opportunities excite them and what scares them away. I can use this to help position the practices that I work with to get maximum buyer interest.
  2. Finance. What a buyer will pay for a practice will be strongly influenced by what a bank thinks when it is presented to them. Over the years, I have made many thousands of loan applications to banks for buyers. I feel that my experience allows me to present a practice to get the best possible result when a bank looks at it

4. Tell us about your rugby referee career

Rugby has been a big part of my life for a long time now.  Being a very ordinary player at school, I took up refereeing and it became a real passion for me.  I was lucky enough to be mentored by and developed a wonderful friendship with a dentist who was one the world’s leading referees as I was coming through - he refereed at 2 Rugby World Cups in 1999 and 2003 as well as the All Blacks vs British & Irish Lions in 2005.  While I never achieved those heights, I was very privileged to referee more than 125 Qld Premier Rugby Matches (and a few Shute Shield Matches in Sydney also), be involved as an Assistant Referee in Super Rugby for 6 years, sit on the sidelines part of the wider Match Official Team as 4th & 5th official for Test Matches and travel to many countries to referee, and in the process make some amazing friendships and connections.

I am still heavily involved in rugby refereeing in QLD, but now I have to balance it with family commitments.

5. What do you like doing in your spare time?

My fiancé and I enjoy spending our spare time with our 2 children at their sports and weekend pursuits, and with our excitable and attention-seeking black labrador, Louis!  We are foodies and enjoying trying new places, which Brisbane is certainly delivering the goods on these days! Would you also believe I fit in a lot of Rugby in there?
