I was kept informed throughout the process and after the first viewing got a comprehensive list of all the parties that saw the practice and their feedback on the practice and their likelihood of making an offer. Simon insisted on gathering all information before he listed the practice, which he compiled into an information memorandum. He has vast experience selling practices so knows the common requests and needs of buyers and as such got all this on the front end. The purchasers had all required info for their due diligence and I wasn't being hassled for more and more information. My previous experience was that information was only requested in dribs and drabs when requested by a buyer and as such, the whole process can get dragged out a bit. This method made everything very smooth. He also communicated with both parties solicitors as required.
It was a pretty smooth process as far as the brokerage goes. We didn't have to attend any viewings (my weekends are important to me); Simon showed buyers through himself. My previous experience was more of an introduction service where buyers were introduced and then we had to show them thru the practices. All this was taken care of. He was also very discreet in terms of staff. We had a competitor look at our practice and Simon had researched all potential buyers and was very coy in the information he gave out in the early stages with this particular person. Basically protecting our interests. Although the ADA and Medfin websites offer a cheap way to sell your practice, the breadth of buyers Simon has access to is phenomenal. Many buyers do not actively check the websites and further, many of Simon's database have made clear to Simon the exact requirements of what they look for in a practice and they are willing to pay good prices for practices that meet this criteria.
Simon went to a lot of effort to assist and progress the sale of our small practice and, despite some difficulties, the sale did proceed as agreed. I could not imagine it could have been achieved without his input.
