I have now handed my keys over to Shiva and am now officially retired. I am writing to you to thank you for your support and professionalism during the period of the sale of my practice.
At the outset let me say that I felt I was in good hands from our first meeting and not just because you recognised Jonathan in the photo in my office. I thought you were well prepared and business like and I felt that you knew the market into which I was selling my practice even though you are based in Sydney. That gave me a lot of comfort.
The last four years were very happy years for me, having moved from a group practice back into a single man practice. I put a lot of effort into creating these rooms and while I was lucky to have Anh working with me, I was proud of what I had achieved and believed I had something to sell. I actually didn’t expect to recoup my financial outlay but I was sure that the physical aspects certainly made the rooms look saleable.
I would like to thank you for nursing me along. There were times when I may have become a bit emotional about the process and I needed you and was grateful to you for bringing me back to the task at hand. I did want the practice to go to a good home but in the end I hope it has.
The financial aspects and the marketing of the practice were completely painless and I appreciated the consultative process you employed in the marketing of the practice. I appreciated your advice to hold off on marketing until after Christmas and once the practice was on the market I was appreciative of the communication and the steady stream of “tyre kickers”. In the end I suppose one is grateful to have an offer but your advice during the early offers and the fact that you managed to secure two good offers is testament to the work you were putting in to the sale.
In the end I must say that the process was quite painless. I can confidently say that you actually delivered on everything you promised. I wish I could say the same for my landlord who seemed to want to obstruct the sale. Here I appreciated your sympathetic ear and concern to the problems he was causing even to the extent of offering to get some legal advice for me. This was especially generous because I realised that this was not an issue for you to deal with.
In summary, I want to thank you most sincerely for your efforts. You were thoroughly professional and supportive throughout the process. I am glad you name was given to me by Philip Mawkes from Medfin and I would have no hesitation in recommending you for the work you have done.
Simon and I had a good talk and seemed to communicate very well. We had a strategic conversation about selling the practice, and I was comfortable with it. It was straight forward, one of the most stress-free experiences I have ever had in terms of business. It was marketed well and the campaign was good. There were three or four buyers and we gave them a time frame of 28 days to finalise things. We stuck to our guns and in the end the highest bidder prevailed.
When I came to sell my half share of a Dental practice in Melbourne, I decided to take the “plunge” and use (Sydney-based) Simon Palmer, because I believe younger people use the internet for everything and he had a strong web presence. I did not know anyone who had used Simon in Melbourne.
Simon arranged one Saturday where buyers could schedule a time to visit in order to create “competitive tension”. This worked very well because I ended up with 5 people interested in purchasing. I could have had an auction, but once I got to my desired price I wanted to be able to choose who to sell too.
Simon kept me informed throughout the process and remained in contact until the money ended in my bank account.
